About

I’m Brandon — hello! I’m a social entrepreneur, education advocate, and rising sophomore at Harvard University.

I am the director of product development at the data science company StratoDem Analytics. I also manage the Harvard Digital Lab for the Social Sciences; and I am on the leadership team for two nonprofits: the Project for Better Journalism, where I lead operations and serve as founder; and Sponsr.Us, a student initiatives platform where I serve as founding director.

At Harvard, I study statistics and government; do and facilitate social science research; and teach computer science. Many years ago, I also created the academic planner Schooltraq, which has risen in popularity. Born and raised in Houston, TX, I have spent the last six years in New England and graduated from Exeter in 2015.

Professional biography

Brandon Wang is a rising sophomore undergraduate at Harvard University, with a broad background in technology, government, and nonprofit work; and significant experience in social entrepreneurship, full-stack web development, and UI/UX/media design. He graduated from Phillips Exeter in 2015.

Brandon is the founder of the Project for Better Journalism, a non-profit working to strengthen student journalism programs; and a founding director at Sponsr.Us, a non-profit supporting social entrepreneurship by students. He is also the Director of Product Development at StratoDem Analytics, a data science startup looking to bring access and analysis to demographic data.

Past work experiences are extensive and include two summers at Teach For America; as an intern for one of the most-trafficked civil courts in the USA; as a design mentor for a startup incubator; and for several years as a local campaign organizer. He has been awarded by the .Net Magazine and PandoDaily for his entrepreneurship and design work.

In his free time, Brandon enjoys swimming, playing squash, and cycling. He dabbles in photography and infrastructure design. He has, while at Exeter and now at Harvard, involved himself in journalism, political activism, and social justice.

About this website

This website was designed and developed in about 10 hours time in March of 2013. It draws inspiration, interestingly, from the GOV.UK website designs. In March of 2014 it was updated — the new exposition photograph on the home page is mine, taken in 2013, of the underpass by the Olympiastadion Berlin U-bahn station. In November of 2014 I redesigned the homepage to include my reading lists.
