Stunning Silence 1.2.6 Released

After many confused users questioning my decision to default the Cufon headers to on, I have decided to push an update changing this default setting to off. I’ve also modified a few things because I didn’t find them appealing. A list of what’s changed is below.

  • Changed default setting of Custom Font (Cufon) to off.
More people than I expected use an alternate language that the font file didn’t support, and a lot of people report having problems with this in Internet Explorer. I’ve changed the default to off.
  • Moved RSS logo to right, removed on hover effect.
I’ve moved the RSS logo more to the right so it doesn’t interfere as much with the name of your blog. I’ve also disabled the on hover effect because I don’t like how it looks.
  • Changed default Twitter logo, now options available.
I’ve changed the default Twitter logo to one by Komodo Media. The older one is also available for selection through the Theme Options interface.
  • Removed default fluer-de-lis.
I never really liked how the thing looked. I’ve removed it for now.

Available for download on the official WordPress servers or through my WordPress page.

Hey Brandon! I’m doing a few site tweaks for a client’s blog that is using Stunning Silence 1.2.5. I’m really impressed with the work you’ve done on this theme. I will definitely recommend it to other clients. Anyway, I’m having an issue that I’m hoping maybe you could help with. When you load the page on the site (www.smallburst.com) the post titles appear, no problem. But they seem to do a disapearing act if you click off to another web tab and then come back. It’s really weird and probably something silly I’m missing but I was wondering if you had any advice for me? Thanks so much!

@Sara: I’ve been unable to reproduce your bug and have spent the last five minutes flipping back and forth between tabs ;D

Can you email me with more information?

  3. I’m having trouble getting the Google AJAX translation plugin to work with Stunning Silence. I can install it, and it functionally works to translate pages in the blog, but the back-end gets very wonky. for example, when I try to export my blog’s XML file, I get a screen full of php errors, and some pages on the site then display these same php errors.

I have found a few posts online stating that this plugin works with certain versions of jquery, so I wonder if you could tell me which version of jquery is included with stunning silence? If you’d like to know the error text, I can provide that too. thank you!

@Steven Wilson: jQuery is not included in the Stunning Silence install. You’ll need to add that yourself; email me for more information.
